SLJ Kick Start – Colour Bookmark

This challenge was to make a colourful bookmark. For this task I thought about the summer holiday and did summer for my bookmark. For the colours I thought about what the hot colours were and chose a light red, yellow, purple, and blue. I drew these in bubble letters because I thought it looked more like a summer bookmark. I also made a Bookmark on paper which says Kahuti I made this a bookmark on paper because the people who were on my rugby team used to call me Kahuti.

I enjoyed this task beccause I used my creativity on the DLO to make a  dsummer bookmark.

SLJ Kick Start – Summer Jams

For this summer learning jounery activity, we got to make a jam that reminds people of the summer time. For this task we used a website called ‘Groove Pizza‘ This website had a variety of jams like: Groove, Jazz, Rock, Techno, Afro-Latin, and Hip Hop. For my jam I used Jazz and threw a little twist to it. This task was fun because we got to make our own jams and feel the beat to our jam.

This task was a creavite task because we got to enjoy our own beat and listen to other peoples beat to see if there jam was better.

Comic Strip l Summer Learning Journey

Our challenge was to create a comic strip that was involved around the beach. Me and my Partners  story was about a fight between the seagulls and crabs and eventually the crabs and birds found peace and returned the crabs back to the water. Our story was called Cirdtastic because ird from bird and c from crab. I think this story was very creative because of the character and storyline.

This activity was exciting because I created a comic strip.

Superhero | Step it up

For the step it up task, I created a short comic strip of my character  Tāne and his rival. Tāne ran away from his home because he had a bad experience growing up with his father. His father found out he left and was furios and followed Tānes footsteps.

I found this fun interesting because I used my character and his rival to create a short story between them.

Superhero | Kick start

For the kick start activity, I created a superhero based of my culture, which is Samoa. My character is from Savai’i, Samoa. The different abilities my character provides are super strength, mystic arts and super fast relflexes. He uses different weapons such as the wooden spoon and belt.

I found this activity interesting because I made a superhero showing what culture I am from.

What Happened Down the Stairs?

LI: To understand the 5 senses can be used to strengthen a description

Our challenge was to co construct a text using the olfactory, auditory, gustatorial, visual and kinesthetic senses to describe the story behind the shoes in this image. This time we were able to speak and sat facing our partners. WrOnce we had completed this part of the challenge we joined together with another group to share our writing and make sure what we had written made sense and had met the language feature challenge.

I found this activity intresting because I have never done something like this before and it was fun to do.

Maori Enterprise

For the past 2 weeks we have been learning about the history of Maori enterprise (Trading) what items they traded, the value and other things.

Maori enterprising first happend amoust themselves mainly between inland tribes and coastal tribes trading fish stocks for birds like kiwi and vise versa. This created an important interisland trading route in which everyone could trade for what they needed at that time.

5 sentence summery

The first Maori enterprise operation happend amongs themeselves mainly between inland and coastal tribes trading fish in exchange for birds were both items that the 2 tribes wanted were difficult to get from where they were located. This trading operation led to an interisland trade that was very crucial for tribes to get what they need. Later on when the Pakeha arrived in New Zealand they established a trading operation with the Maori, at first they often traded for fish stocks in ruturn for corned beef. Later on the Maori saw the potential of chisels and nails and started to request them for goodies to trade. This process kept on repating the Maori trading for new things that have potential and the pakeha trading for the natrual resources that the Maori had at their disposable.

This activtiy was intristing as I never had any prior knowledge about Maori enterprise and I got to expand my knowledge.

Showing Respect

LI: Create a DLO showing respect using photos you have taken.

Respect in our CARE values means accepting people for who they are and caring for the environment. For example: in this image in the bottom right it shows me picking up the rubbish on the ground. Respect in our CARE awards means: being respectful to our environment and taking care of one other. Showing respect can be shown in many ways like: helping people, picking up rubbish, listening to the teacher or the person that is talking, and not talking over the teacher.

I enjoyed this because I got to show photos of how to be respectful.

Thank you letter

LI: Write a thank you letter to a teacher or staff member.

Writing thank you letters shows your greatfulness to the person your writing to. There is always a meaning behind the thank you letter. My thank you letter was to Miss White because I was greatful she came into LS2 and helped us and did science with us.

I enjoyed this activity because it was fun writing a thank you letter to Miss white.

Respected leader

LI: To Research about a respected leader.

I created a DLO that shows why Nelson Mandela is a respected leader. I think that Nelson Mandela is a respected leader because he fought for a better world. Nelson Mandela also spent 27 years in prison. Did you know Nelson Mandela was the president of South Africa from 1994-1999?
